Position type

- Part-time: 30 hours per week

Role overview
The role of the Community Development & Administration Officer is to support the growth and cultural diversification of Youth and Adult Girl Guide membership by promoting the benefits of being a part of Girl Guides NSW ACT & NT to community groups, local councils, schools, parents and carers, youth and potential volunteers.
Working across the Northern Territory, this role will drive local development and project lead implementation of activities, including pilot programs, to attract new Youth Guide Members and Adult Volunteer Guide Leaders along with support volunteers.
The role will focus on bringing together girls from different communities and backgrounds, building relationships with cultural groups and First People's communities, along with other members of the local population.
Duties of this position will include but are not limited to:
- Build the profile of Girl Guides in the Region and develop and maintain stakeholder relationships including but not limited to councils, schools, community hubs in emerging communities, youth and women’s Service providers and youth networks.
- Lead the implementation of activities to increase participation of culturally diverse and emerging communities from target areas in Girl Guides
- Undertake community consultation to identify opportunities to promote and establish Guiding in existing and newly established communities.
- Provide support and assistance to existing Guide Districts/Units in the Region.
- Provide information, tools and resources to volunteer Leaders in Guides.
- Support programs, pathways and opportunities for volunteer leadership development.
- Explore funding and grant opportunities in the Region to support Guiding activities.
- Measuring engagement and retention of existing membership and track new membership registrations.
- Coordinate promotional activities, such as information stands and engagement activities, at identified community events and public spaces in target areas.
- Attend to other reasonable duties, projects and other administrative tasks as requested by the Region Manager including but not limited to assisting with the management of NTG Operational Grant KPI reports and general filing.
What you will need to succeed:
- Demonstrated experience in community program development/community engagement
- Demonstrated experience working with volunteers
- Demonstrated experience identifying and engaging new communities or stakeholders to suit program offerings
- Demonstrated networking experience; development and management of stakeholder relationships
- Confident and experienced presenter in a volunteer, club or community setting
- Excellent time management /planning skills
- Flexible attitude to work, including outside of normal work hours, weekends, local and state-wide travel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated experience successfully using a database or CRM software to support project tracking and progress/success reporting
- High-level competency in MS Office Tools such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Friendly and professional with the ability to communicate well at all levels
- Current Class C Driver’s license
- Must hold or be willing to complete a Working With Children Clearance (NT) and National Police Check
