About the Opportunity

Garnduwa is currently looking for a full-time Human Resources Coordinator to join their team in Broome WA, responsible for the providing integral support to the Senior Leadership of Garnduwa.

Primary Objective

The Human Resources Coordinator will support a cross functional team to develop, implement and support the HR operations of the organisation.

The HR Coordinator reports to the Corporate Services Manager (CSM) and will provide operational HR, Recruitment and training expertise to the organisation to deliver best practice HR solutions. The HR Coordinator will provide high level advice and support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and CSM and assist other senior staff as required. An energetic, positive and enthusiastic outlook is a must.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide human resource support to the CEO and CSM to ensure effective HR systems are operating
  • Conduct organisation-wide training needs assessments and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
  • Support managers to undertake performance reviews with all staff to communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions
  • Map out and provide implementation support to all developed training plans
  • Coordinate whole of staff meetings and training sessions
  • Facilitate access to training opportunities to all Garnduwa employees and volunteers
  • Maintain updated training database and professional training records for all employees and volunteers engaged in skill development opportunities.
  • Review policies and procedures to confirm alignment of training plans and ensure best practice.
  • Work closely with Corporate Services Manager and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through with implementation
  • Communicate all operating policies and/or issues at Staff meetings
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards
  • Prepare, develop and vary all Employee contracts and job descriptions
  • Confirm all employees and contractors are engaged and managed in-line with NES, Modern Award and FairWork standards
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of succession plans
  • Develop suitable resources that support efficient administration and HR procedures
  • Maintain and apply a strong understanding of employment and workplace and sector legislation
  • Ensure compliance with WWVP federal and state legislation
  • Co-ordinate special projects as directed by the CEO or CSM

Please note: This role will involve some travel to remote Aboriginal communities, including use of dirt roads, small aircraft or 4WD vehicles.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  1. Qualifications in Human Resource Management or equivalent
  2. Experience in a Human Resources or Leadership role, or equivalent
  3. Experience in human resource functions including recruitment, probation management, performance review and performance management
  4. Ability to assess training needs and develop associated plans
  5. Experience in conflict management and dispute resolution
  6. A willingness to work by and promote the Garnduwa values of Culture, Community & Leadership and a deep respect for Aboriginal people, culture, land, sea and tradition.
  7. Experience and ability with communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders, with the ability to adapt accordingly
  8. Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  9. Knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health legislation and requirements in Western Australia
  10. Willing & able to travel remotely across the Kimberley & Pilbara regions as required.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  1. Qualification and / or experience in Training and Assessment
  2. A keen interest in Sport & Recreation

Please note: It is a requirement that all Garnduwa employees undergo a National Police Clearance Check and Working with Children permit prior to commencement. A current 'C' Class Manual Driver's License is also required.
