For Purpose Advisory is seeking a casual Company Secretary / Minute Taker. The successful applicant will be a reliable, energetic, confident and attentive person who is able to commit to casual work during the outside of regular business hours.

The Company Secretary / Minute Taker will work with For Purpose Advisory’s company secretary team, to provide company secretary services for not-for-profit organisations and charities. This includes assisting these organisations with the preparation of papers for Board or Committee meetings, taking minutes of those meetings, maintaining relevant records for these organisations and maintaining a register of actions to assist meeting attendees to keep track of tasks that have been delegated to them.

The role will be casual in the first instance, with the possibility of moving to permanent part time and then full time as For Purpose Advisory grows. This fantastic opportunity will also allow you the flexibility to work from home.

We do this by providing legal, mediation, company secretarial and consulting services. We also deliver training and connect our clients with the people and resources that they need to succeed.

We work with not-for-profit organisations and charities across a range of industries, including health, benevolent services, disability, international aid, environment, education, sport, religion, hospitality and aged care. We also support governments, individuals and for-profit organisations with their philanthropic and not-for-profit initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

The candidate must have:

  • great listening and writing skills;
  • a commitment to high work standards and strong attention to detail;
  • a strong client service orientation;
  • an ability to demonstrate initiative and proactivity;
  • excellent communication and general research skills;
  • an ability to work well in a team environment and alone;
  • an ability to present content confidently; and
  • a willingness to learn.

Previous experience in the not-for-profit or charity sector and previous experience as a company secretary or minute taker are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

  • undertaking company secretarial duties for clients as required from time to time including:
    • arranging and co-ordinating Board or committee meetings;
    • sourcing and setting agenda items with the Board or committee Chairperson and the CEO;
    • compiling and circulating the agenda and associated documentation in the timeframe agreed with the client;
    • taking and finalising minutes of the meetings outlined above;
    • maintaining a list of actions and accountabilities arising out of meetings;
    • maintaining accurate records for our clients from the information provided to us or prepared by us, including agendas, supporting material and meeting minutes;
    • maintaining attendance registers from meetings;
    • other governance assistance as required from time to time; and
  • contributing to For Purpose Advisory’s knowledge management resources and publications as agreed.

Client meetings may be held in and out of ordinary business hours.
