Footprints Community is a well-regarded not-for-profit provider of community-based services, working in the community for over 30 years. We specialise in working with older people, those that experience disability, mental illness, as well as those who are at risk of homelessness.

About the Role

Works within the Peer Based Group Support Program and the Recovery and Wellness Program to provide recovery based, and holistic support to clients accessing these services. Empower and support participant's mental health recovery journey through the delivery of Recovery Focused and holistic peer-led groups and 1:1 support. Utilise your own life experience of mental health and personal recovery. Support participants to build on their own strengths and skills, nurture hope and inspire people to move forward with their mental health recovery journey.

The following mandatory compliances are required for this role:

  • Certificate IV (Mental Health peer work or equivalent), and/or demonstrated experience working with clients who experience mental health challenges in a community setting.
  • Capacity to relate to clients from a perspective of having a lived experience of mental health challenges.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the recovery process and ability to communicate a lived experience.
  • Ability to establish relationships and maintain appropriate boundaries with co-workers, clients, carers, and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, skills to work cooperatively with other staff as well as working independently.
  • Able to manage own mental health in an effective and appropriate way.
  • Current Yellow Card or National Disability Worker Screening Clearance (or willing to obtain): https://workerscreening.communities.qld.gov.au/
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Covid-19 Vaccination requirements as determined under the Public Health Directions and/or alternative measures as determined by Footprints.

Desirable:

Experience in delivering psychosocial educational groups (e.g. SMART Recovery, DBT, Mindfulness Art), outreach community work and working with individuals with complex mental health support needs and individuals who are at risk of homelessness.
