Overview:

The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria (the Assembly) is the voice of Aboriginal people in Victoria in the next stage of the Treaty process. It is made up of Victorian Traditional Owners, elected by Aboriginal Communities, for Aboriginal Communities, to advance their rights, interests, and benefits.

The Assembly works with the State to establish Treaty processes that recognise the sovereignty of the First Peoples of Victoria, support self-determination, and realise human rights, to make Victoria stronger for everyone.

We are seeking a talented and passionate Community Engagement Manager to join our team. The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for leading and motivating the community engagement team in conducting data-driven, grassroots organising, aimed at growing the Aboriginal electoral role, increasing community participation in decision-making, and supporting ‘Elected Members’ to fulfil their responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support engagement project officers in community organising activities, through a variety of ways.
  • Maintain and enhance the client relationship management system (CRM) and databases.
  • Assist Elders Voice and Youth Voice Coordinators in engagement planning.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with elected Members to plan and implement Member-led engagement.
  • Promote community participation in policy consultation, Assembly elections, and other relevant activities.
  • Assist the Head of Communications and Engagement in election planning and execution.
  • Ensure community feedback is received through the Assembly reporting process.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Highly skilled at overseeing multi-disciplined teams to ensure delivery of community engagement activities and strategic objectives.
  • Experienced in navigating and fostering relationships, acting in accordance with and promoting organisational values.
  • Has experience in Data Management and Reporting.
