Fireside Agency

About Us

Fireside is a storytelling-led communications agency. We work with good organisations – the ones creating positive change in the world - and help them to amplify their impact with powerful storytelling. We do this because we believe the best way to influence people is to know your essential story and tell it well.

We’re passionate about the narratives as constructive forces for good. That’s why we publish The Story, a digital magazine about the role they play in creating change in the world.

About the role and what we’re looking for

Fireside is growing, and we have an exciting, newly-created opportunity for a Communications Advisor to support us expand our reach and help more organisations tell their story of change and impact.

The role involves:

  • Managing client accounts, including building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Developing communications and marketing strategies for clients
  • Managing external suppliers (agencies and freelancers) across content, design, media and web development to deliver high-quality work for clients
  • Supporting the digital marketing activities of both clients and Fireside, through expert use of digital marketing tools such as paid ads on social media
  • Supporting the Fireside team to grow through effective business development strategies
  • Being an enthusiastic ambassador for Fireside among your networks.

About you

You're passionate about storytelling and its role in creating positive impact in the world. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:

  • 3-4 years+ of communications industry experience, including some agency experience.
  • Experience with social impact communications is highly desirable but not essential.
  • A deep interest in the role storytelling and communications can play in creating social impact and moving the needle on big problems like climate change and inequality.
  • A hunger to put your stamp on your next role, and a proactive approach to your work.
  • A positive and team-first mindset.
  • Great organisational and time management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • Some experience in a media organisation, particularly in the digital marketing of editorial content and podcasts. (This is a ‘great to have’ but not a dealbreaker).
  • Strong IT skills, including ideally intermediate/advanced Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator/InDesign & Premiere Pro/Rush), Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and establish trust with team and clients.
  • High attention to detail, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curiosity and a natural willingness to figure things out and be proactive.

Why join the Fireside team?

We’re a small agency that punches above our weight and doesn’t believe in doing work we don’t believe in. In our short history we've already helped organisations like Oxfam Australia, Nightingale Housing and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency create powerful stories of impact and change.

This role is a great opportunity for a talented person who isn’t currently getting the opportunities they deserve, who likes the idea of arriving at Fireside in the early part of our journey and helping us help our clients do more good in the world.

We don’t care whether you work in the office or from home as long as you do good work, within the agreed timeframes. We never want to be a place that stops our people from being good partners, parents or friends.

And if you’re interested in storytelling and using your creativity to make things, there’s every opportunity to have fun helping us make The Story and our podcast StoryCraft.

While the role is initially part-time, there is potential for it to become a full-time position over time.
