An opportunity exists for a Youth Outreach Worker to join the RoboBus Team to deliver projects and programs which address the identified needs of children in STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths). The RoboBus is a renovated bus that is currently being refitted to be an engaging mobile classroom for STEAM education.

Qualifications in Youth work, Social work or similar is desirable but not essential and we would welcome teachers and community workers to apply.

• Part Time or Casual Position, fixed term from July 2019 to March 2020 with possible extension
• $30-$35 per hour
• 10-20 hours per week

The successful applicant will demonstrate youth and community development skills; be able to engage and build strong relationships with a diverse range of children to enhance their learning in STEAM education; develop, facilitate and coordinate a flexible and creative range of youth and community led projects; be aware of the gender issues in an educational setting; and have personal alignment with the Father Bob Maguire Foundation’s mission. It is a requirement that the successful applicant will have or be willing to apply for a medium rigid vehicle licence to be able to drive the RoboBus to various schools and centres. Funding will be provided for the successful application of a medium rigid vehicle licence.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated capacity to utilise relevant community experience with supporting children and teenagers with social and educational needs, their families and community in a learning context.
2. Understanding of, or the ability to acquire an understanding of STEAM education and its positive impact on children
3. Ability to provide a range of flexible programs and activities which successfully engage and support children and teenagers
4. Ability to work effectively and autonomously as a member of a small team
5. Possess a current Working with Children Check
6. An essential requirement of this position is to have or be willing to obtain a medium rigid licence (to assist in driving the RoboBus to various locations)
7. Volunteer management skills and teaching skills will be highly regarded
