Strelley Community School is a remote Aboriginal Independent Community School located in the Pilbara Region of WA. It comprises of 2 campuses (Strelley & Warralong) and caters for Kindergarten to Year 12.
The language, culture and history of the students are highly respected and valued within the school and its programs.
The school’s curriculum employs learning, teaching and assessment programs that provide each student with opportunities to demonstrate the learning outcomes identified in the Australian Curriculum and the Western Australian Curriculum Frameworks. The delivery of the school curriculum endeavours to be rich and varied, and to provide the students with a learning environment that is supportive, stimulating and encourages student participation, growth and development.
Strelley Community School now has an exciting opportunity for a High School Teacher and Partner to join their dedicated team in Warralong, WA. These roles are being offered on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Principal, the School Teacher(s) will be responsible for teaching secondary school students across the curriculum with a focus on numeracy and literacy.
In addition to regular classroom teaching responsibilities, you will also take part in the Healthy Living Program, which ensures students receive basic needs care such as breakfast and morning tea each day.
At least one of the pair of candidates will need to be qualified Primary or High School Teacher, with WA Teacher Registration (or ability to obtain) and demonstrated post-graduate teaching experience. Given the remote location and community, experience working in a remote environment and/or with ESL/CALD/overseas students will be highly regarded.
If one individual does not hold a degree in Education but has experience in tutoring, administration or health background and can offer support across the school, Strelley will still consider your application.
This is a rare opportunity to live and work in a remote Indigenous community. While this lifestyle is not for everyone, for those that are truly open and committed to the opportunity, you will be offered a life-changing experience in which you will see the direct, positive impact you are making to the lives of children in the community.
In return for your hard work and dedication, the role of High School Teacher/s will receive a competitive salary in line with the WA Government School Scale from $78,000 - $99,000 (depending on qualifications and experience) and circa $70,000 for a non-teaching position (depending on skills).
In addition, you will both have access to a range of benefits, including:
