Project Officer - Community Visitor Scheme - Geelong

Elder Rights Australia Ltd.
  • Community Visitor Scheme Project Officer
  • Make a Difference to Older Victorians
  • Anywhere in Regional Victoria (Remote, we work from home)
  • Part Time, 4 days per week – contract to 30 June 2023 (potential opportunity to extend dependent on funding)

Who are we?

Elder Rights Advocacy supports older people, their families and representatives in Victoria address issues related to Commonwealth funded aged care services. Our service is free, independent, and confidential.

We believe that older people have a right to express their opinion and receive respect.

Our job is to listen and support older Victorians and their family to identify and advocate for solutions that best respond to their circumstances. Sometimes this involves us advocating strongly to an aged care service and challenging them to provide better care.

We are a member of the national Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), delivering the National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP). We also deliver the Aged Care Navigator trial and the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS).

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we work. We honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and pay our respects to all Elders past, present and emerging.

Our Values

We reflect the following values in all our work with older people: Respect; Partnership; Empowerment; Integrity; Inclusiveness; Responsiveness; and Accountability. Our workforce is expected to adhere to these values in all that we say and do.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Volunteer Coordinator, the CVS Project Officer assists the Volunteer Coordinator to initiate and sustain recruitment strategies for Victoria’s aged care planning regions. The CVS Project Officer is responsible for training and supporting volunteers who undertake CVS visits to older people living in their own homes and in aged care facilities. Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be a key part of this role along with matching volunteers with older persons.

ERA currently operates the CVS program across five aged care planning regions; Gippsland, Loddon Mallee, Grampians, Hume & Barwon South West. This position will involve working across all regions and may involve occasional travel.

All staff at ERA work remotely from home and come together for one day meetings in Melbourne CBD approximately every six weeks. Staff are set up with equipment that is OH&S compliant. We take very seriously the health and wellbeing of our staff who told us they wished to work remotely post COVID restrictions. We can now service our clients more effectively as we draw our workforce from across Victoria.
