Turning Point is a national treatment, research and education centre that provides leadership in the alcohol and drug, gambling and mental health sectors in Victoria and beyond. Turning Point is part of Eastern Health, the largest public health provider in the eastern suburbs, providing a comprehensive range of high quality acute, sub-acute, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care and community health services.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our Clinical and Social Research Team at Turning Point. Our Clinical and Social Research program aims to address addiction issues across the spectrum of harm, establishing effective methods for supporting client journeys from initial help-seeking through to specialist treatment and recovery.
The successful candidate will work as part of this dynamic research team on a range of activities supporting the timely completion of research projects.
This includes clinical trials testing novel psychological and neurocognitive behaviour change interventions that aim to help people reduce and/or cease harmful substance use, ground-breaking pilot studies, qualitative studies (e.g., Interviews with people who consume alcohol and other drugs to understand their experiences), and other research activities and evaluations, as well as relevant administrative tasks.
The successful candidate will work directly with senior researchers/clinicians who will provide guidance, mentoring and training to assist them in performing their role.
A specific focus of this position will be to support clinical trials and basic research studies examining cognitive biases in addiction, and the clinical effects of modifying them.
