We have Registered Nurse positions available within the 24 bed Adult and Children’s Short Stay Unit. The Short Stay Unit (SSU) is a ward providing targeted care for patients streamed from the Emergency Department. The SSU is an inpatient environment for clinically appropriate patients requiring hospitalisation for less than 24 hours and discharge as soon as clinical conditions are resolved.

Patients present with a variety of medical and surgical conditions providing staff with opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills in a supportive environment. As part of our team, you will work in a collaborative, driven and supportive multidisciplinary team including Nurses, Doctors, Allied Health and Clerical Staff with the primary focus of delivering patient centred timely care.

About Box Hill ED

Box Hill Emergency Department cares for over 70,000 patients annually, with an average of 195 presentations per day. We support O&G, paediatrics, neurology, cardiac, general medicine, renal, surgical and mental health patients. We are a diverse and gender-friendly team, and place high importance on our self-care and wellbeing.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current Nursing registration with AHPRA
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Positive attitude towards continuous improvement, innovation and change
  • Children's nursing experience desirable, however not essential

Access to educational materials will be provided and our Learning & Teaching team cover two shifts a day to support staff in their management of patients.
