Environment Victoria is one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit environment groups, with a strong history of running strategic, dynamic, people-powered and successful campaigns to take action on climate change and improve environmental protections. Our campaigning is solutions-based, founded on research and aims to build enduring community power. Our team of about 20 staff is nimble, creative and fun.

Our community organising program is building a massive people-powered movement to stop environmental degradation and ensure the transition to a zero-carbon economy is done fairly with impacted communities front and centre. Alongside our work building community power and organising and mobilising our Victoria-wide supporter base to take action, we support local communities to run strategic, place-based local campaigns to shift Victoria away from fossil fuels and secure a healthy future for the Murray-Darling Basin.

Environment Victoria is working alongside communities from across Victoria and the Murray-Darling Basin stand up for rivers and protect the natural places we love. This role has been developed to work in our community organising team to build community power in Goulburn Valley Region in support of our Healthy Rivers campaign. The role will work closely with local groups and organisations in the Goulburn Valley who are active on issues around environmental protection, climate change and ensuring a thriving Murray-Darling Basin.

We are looking for someone highly motivated, hard-working and passionate about empowering volunteers to get active in social movements for positive change. You care about centering communities at the frontline of environmental injustices. You have a strong understanding of community dynamics. You are digitally savvy, and you want to be part of a diverse movement that includes us all.

The position will commence in October 2022.
