Fantastic opportunity for a proactive Peer Support Project Officer to join our Programs and Services Team.
This role requires focus on establishing and nurturing relationships with leaders of peer support groups within the Diabetes Victoria Peer Support (DVPS) program network, both in face-to-face and online communities. The primary emphasis is on fostering mixed (type 1 & type 2) and type 1 specific groups for adults, as well as groups dedicated to parents and carers of children with diabetes.

About the role
The key responsibilities of this roles include:
- Provide assistance with the daily running and promotion of the support groups in their local community.
- Work with the Digital communications lead to create digital content and resources for peer support networks including videos, social media posts and infographics.
- Support Peer Support Program Team Lead to identify opportunities for the development of sustainable initiatives that enhance the services provided by the network.
- Develop a network of health professionals who can speak with support groups (at meetings or events) and recommend to conveners as requested.
- Work with the community engagement team to enhance community engagement activities through utilising peer networks.
- Observe continuous improvement principles for all programs and services delivered.
To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate:
- Communication – written, verbal, digital.
- Public Speaking.
- Stakeholder engagement.
- Event Coordination
Qualifications and experience
- Tertiary qualification in the health services and/or community or similar is desired.
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships and effective networking.
- Understanding of consumer engagement principles.
- Experience in print publication and editing (desirable).
- Experience in digital communications, content creation and webinar delivery (desirable).
- Valid Victorian Drivers Licence (desirable).
Successful candidates are required to provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination or medical exemption, and a cleared police check.
