As part of the Central Desert Group, Desert Support Services Pty Ltd (DSS) provide a range of services that are geared towards supporting Aboriginal Corporations to achieve a sustainable and independent future, focusing on building capacity by empowering local and regional decision making.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the development of land management activities in the Birriliburu Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) and to create long lasting ecological and social impact in the region. The Birriliburu IPA is located within the Little Sandy and Gibson Deserts. The purpose of this role is to:

• Coordinate fieldwork projects in the Birriliburu IPA;
• Develop the capacity of the community to lead and manage the IPA program;
• Lead the implementation of the Birriliburu Science and Monitoring Plan.

The successful person will be required to travel and work remotely in the field for extended periods of time during the field season (e.g. 2 weeks per month, March to December).

We are committed to supporting community based organisations to drive and sustainably manage their programs and a part of your role will be to equip Birriliburu traditional owners with the capacity to manage the land management program.
