Your Community Health is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Aboriginal Health Project Worker to join the Aboriginal Health Team on a part-time (0.5 EFT) basis, fixed term to 31 December 2021.
Your Community Health is a community health service with sites at East Reservoir, Preston and Northcote. We provide a wide range of allied health, medical, social support and health promotion services to the community of Darebin and surrounding areas.
Our Aboriginal Health Team provides health services and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, through providing a culturally appropriate space and linking people into services, such as our dental, medical and allied health services.
We aim to promote the health and wellbeing of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by:
The Aboriginal Health Project Worker will provide support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to engage with and participate in Aboriginal programs at Your Community Health (YCH). The position will support the Connecting Our Culture Women's Worker role and co-facilitate the Sista Circle program (a weekly women's yarning group). The role will work with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and assist members to access the services and programs at Your Community Health and the broader community. The role will work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to understand the needs of clients and participants to inform service delivery.
There will also be a focus on supporting the Aboriginal Health Team and Your Community Health to complete and assist to undertake actions (as required) set out in the Reconciliation Action Plan.
An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is sought for this role by Your Community Health as a special measure pursuant to Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act.
