The MyTime program is an initiative funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) and coordinated nationally by the Parenting Research Centre (PRC). It is a facilitated peer support group that promotes connection to other families and their community.
Parents of children with disabilities are set to benefit from a simplified and strengthened approach to the delivery of the MyTime program, with Down Syndrome Victoria (DSV) confirmed as MyTime’s sole Victorian delivery partner.
The MyTime program will move to a region-based delivery structure. This change aims to achieve a greater consistency in the geographic spread of services and provide greater clarity around service delivery expectations.
This opportunity will see DSV expand our program to more than 50 groups, allowing us to connect and offer support to more parents and caregivers across the state.
MyTime groups are conducted by a facilitator who is responsible for leading parent discussions on various topics throughout the term. Pre-school children can attend the group with their parents/carers, (including siblings) where a Play Leader engages the children in meaningful play experiences. The play sessions run concurrently, so that parents/carers can participate and engage in the discussion and participate in group sessions and activities.
The MyTime peer support group Play Leader engages children with appropriate play activities, providing support for children with additional needs, and their sibling.
This is to provide an opportunity for parents/carers to participate freely in group discussions. Children aged 6 years and under can attend MyTime groups.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Play Leader to engage pre-school aged children in meaningful play experiences.
We are looking for someone to start immediately.
