MyTime Play Helpers - Bendigo / West Gully / Blackburn / Horsham

Down Syndrome Victoria

The MyTime program is an initiative funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) and coordinated nationally by the Parenting Resource Centre (PRC). It is a facilitated peer support group that promotes connection to other families and their community. Down Syndrome Victoria works in partnership with Parenting Resource Centre to deliver 16 MyTime groups across the state of Victoria.

Pre-school children can attend the group with their parents/carers, (including siblings). It is the role of the play helper to engage the children in attendance in meaningful play experiences.

MyTime groups are led by a facilitator who is responsible in leading parent discussions on various topics throughout the term. The play sessions run concurrently, so that parents/carers can participate and engage in the discussion and participate in group sessions and activities.

The MyTime peer support group play helper engages children with appropriate play activities, providing support for children with additional needs, and their sibling.

This is to provide an opportunity for parents/carers to participate freely in group discussions. Children aged 6 years and under can attend MyTime groups; older children may attend at the discretion of the MyTime Coordinator and facilitator.

We are looking for an experienced Play Helper to engage children in play and meaningful activity.
