The First Peoples - State Relations (FPSR) group within the Department of Premier and Cabinet is seeking two highly talented and passionate individuals committed to progressing the Victorian Government's nation leading work with First Peoples. This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
As an Executive Director, you will bring strong strategic leadership skills to drive nation-leading policy and programmatic initiatives across the work of FPSR. This will include whole of government engagement and advocacy in areas such as cultural heritage, coordinating the response to the Yoo-rrook Justice Commission, and driving efforts under Victoria's implementation plan for the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
You will support the fulfilment of statutory obligations under the Aboriginal Heritage Act, and Aboriginal Land Rights Act, and lead programs of work to support First Peoples.
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal affairs policy, legislation and frameworks relevant to Victoria would be advantageous.
