About us

The Victims Support Agency is part of the Criminal Justice Law Policy and Operations Division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating services for victims of crime in Victoria. The Victims of Crime Helpline is the gateway to the service system, operates 7 days per week 8am -11pm and is located in Melbourne CBD.

About the role

The position is responsible for providing informed and up-to-date telephone advice, support and information about Victims services, entitlements, and referrals to other services.

A Victim Support Officer is required to work flexibly over shifts between 7am to 11pm across 7 days per week including weekends and public holidays.

This position is a Fixed Term, Part Time role until 30 June 2020 and is required to work nine shifts per fortnight. Shifts are allocated in a roster on a monthy basis.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • An understanding of the Victims Support service system and associated legislation
  • Experience in direct human service delivery where there are sensitive and complex client needs
  • The ability to establish trust and effectively address the issues of clients.
