THE ROLE

This is a role for someone passionate about community, engagement, building partnerships, food security, health and nutrition with excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills.

Food Sharing Coordination: Our Food Services team supports the effective operation of our Community Information and Support Program including emergency relief and food relief. We share fresh food, pantry goods and frozen meals with people in Darebin on no or low income or experiencing financial stress. Our aim is to increase people’s access to healthy and nutritious food that has travelled low food miles and to ensure consistent and varied fresh food supply. The role manages more than 30 volunteers and works closely with the Health and Wellbeing Program Leader and the Urban Food Program Leader to source and share food with our community and promote nutrition and healthy eating.

Volunteer and Community Engagement: DIVRS is a volunteer powered organisation with a small part-time staff and more than 100 volunteers and students across our programs. We have many and varied partnerships across government, business, education and community which helps us deliver on our mission to connect people to opportunity, community and support.

The role engages with community, businesses and services to extend our reach to more people and to increase the diversity of our volunteers, considering barriers to access and how we can work together to support the Darebin community. This includes extending our reach to and considering how we work with young people, people in public housing, people living with a disability, culturally and linguistically diverse people and First Nations peoples. The role also works on engagement projects, responding to organisational and community strengths and needs.
