We develop and deliver creative digital campaigns for clients focusing on climate action and energy transition in the Asia Pacific region. As part of a global network of communicators, researchers, marketers, and advocacy strategists, we work with non-profit organisations to campaign for clean energy.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an exceptional writer and editor to manage a news blog on the climate change impacts in Asia and beyond. As Senior Editor of Climate Impacts Tracker Asia, the consultant will:
- Support the development and growth of a new digital news channel reporting on the impacts of climate change in Asia and internationally.
- Plan, write, edit, and publish articles, blog posts, and landing page content to publication standard on websites, in email newsletter, and on social channels according to editorial process SOP
- Set the tone, style, and editorial direction of Climate Impacts Tracker Asia in collaboration with the Managing Editor and our network colleagues and international partners.
- Manage the Climate Impacts Tracker brand across channels and ensure brand guidelines are followed.
- Oversee the content commissioning and marketing budget.
- Commission content and plans from freelance writers, content creators, agencies, SEO specialists, and digital marketers.
- Work with the insights and analytics team to track content performance.
- Collaborate with the creative team to produce design assets.
- Manage translators and proofread when required.
- Other tasks relevant to the development of the Climate Impacts Tracker Asia publication.
This role is line managed by the Managing Editor, coordinates also works closely with the campaigns team, and collaborates with partners and colleagues in the network.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 5-8 years experience as a professional writer or editor
- A solid understanding of climate and climate science, attribution, and climate mitigation issues in Asia, and mainstream media discourse on these issues.
- Exceptional organisational and project management skills, including managing freelancers.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, as part of a fully distributed global network.
- An understanding of how media can support progressive climate and energy policies in the region.
- Experience writing for finance, energy, and climate publications is preferred.
- Existing contacts with freelance writers and contributors would be an advantage.
- Experience working across multiple projects on competing deadlines.
- Knowledge of SEO, paid digital marketing, lead generation, and email marketing would be an advantage, otherwise, a willingness to learn.
The ability to work with internationally-based colleagues in English. Please note this is a remote position. We are not able to offer sponsorship for a business visa or work permit at this time.
DATES OF CONSULTANCY
We can offer you a 12-month, fixed-term contract (including a 3-month probationary period) with a possibility of extending it contingent on funding and performance.
