“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in an early childhood education centre where the ratios were better, the group sizes small, you had two hours every day out of the room for planning, mentorship and coaching and where you could make a significant difference in the lives of children and families? The Cooke Court Uniting SEED program will have those conditions and more. I’m looking forward to working with you!” – Dr Anne Kennedy
C&K Dixon St Early Years Centre is a research childcare centre offering an intensive Early Childhood Education and Care program. It aims to address a critical gap in Australia’s early childhood education and care system to adequately support children living with severe levels of family stress and social disadvantage.
The objective of the intensive early childhood education and care program is that children living with significant adversity will experience a stable and enriching early learning and care program and enter school as confident and successful learners who are developmentally equal to their peers.
It is an exemplar model which aligns with C&K’s strategic priorities and upholds the standards and values that are vital to our organisation. The C&K Dixon Street Early Years Centre is one of three research sites in Australia and will be supported through coaching, mentoring and professional development from the Parkville Institute.
Working with team of qualified teachers, educators and mental health and family service professionals, you will contribute to an early learning environment that is safe, inclusive and responsive to the needs of children, families and educators.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute significantly to research that could shape the future of the early childhood sector in Australia.
We are now looking for a Pedagogical Leader to join our dedicated team. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary senior leadership team with overall responsibility for leading the curriculum and pedagogical elements of the program, nested within the usual childcare legislative requirements and with a commitment to the mission and values of C&K and the Parkville Institute.
The Pedagogical Leader has an influential role in inspiring, motivating, affirming, and also challenging and enriching the curriculum and pedagogy implemented by the teachers and educators. It is a collaborative endeavour, involving expertise, inquiry, and critical reflection, which can significantly impact on the important work teachers and educators undertake in partnership with children and families and other professionals.
C&K is committed to an inclusive workforce and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
All C&K employees are required to undergo background checks which includes a police check. Also, all C&K employees will need to have obtained their 1st and 2nd vaccinations for COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
