The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) has a requirement to fill a new role as a Specialist Registrar and Principal Case Manager within the Planning and Environment Division (PED). The successful candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications in planning with at least 10 years' experience working in senior roles in the Victorian Planning System, with specific expertise in statutory planning.
Working in partnership with senior leaders and Members, this role will have a particular focus on managing a team and reviewing case management methodologies in VCAT's Planning and Environment Division (PED).
Working closely with senior leaders and Members in the PED, the successful incumbent will be a subject matter expert in the Victorian Planning System and will use their expertise to optimise the delivery of services to users and management of planning and environment cases.
This is an exciting role that embeds active case management practices that support the efficient flow of the case lifecycle – from application to hearing to resolution. You must have a high regard for process adherence. This role has a particular focus on and carriage of the management of complex and challenging cases.
Your career to date has been immersed in the Victorian Planning System and you have a solid reputation amongst your colleagues for being a senior practitioner in this area. You tick all the boxes with your ability to analyse information, prepare detailed case briefings, have great attention to detail and understand complex matters in order to solve problems.
Your experience to date has equipped you to make logical and sound decisions which has prepared you to provide high-level technical and procedural guidance to tribunal users and registry colleagues, with the key focus always to support the efficient flow of cases to hearing and resolution.
Your knowledge of statutory planning processes is highly developed, and you have a solid history of working in complex and multi-faceted operating environments and bring a continuous improvement focus to your work.
Your relationship building and communication skills are exceptional; and you utilise these skills in forming, strengthening and maintaining the stakeholder experience within the confines of local policy, procedures and legislative requirements. Your exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and resilience will be utilised as you navigate complex issues, conversations, expectations and the general demands and priorities of the role. Underpinning all that you say and do is your internal value system, which includes integrity and respect.
Together with the Specialist Registrar and Lawyer you will manage the Specialist Case Management Team (SCMT). This is a great opportunity to step up in your career – it is an integral role within Registry Services, supporting Tribunal Members and working alongside divisional staff. You will share your subject matter expertise and wealth of knowledge to guide your registry colleagues by contributing to their skills and capability development.
