Comm Unity Plus Services Ltd (operating as commUnity+) is a multidisciplinary organisation located in Melbourne’s western suburbs, delivering a range of prevention and early intervention programs focused on informing, engaging with, and supporting our community. This is achieved via high quality Adult Education, Legal Services (Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre), our Neighbourhood House program and Children’s Contact Service, as well as a range of community and individual development activities.

About the position

Reporting to the CEO and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the General Manager – Shared Services (GMSS) is a key leadership role that is responsible for the organisation’s corporate services and operational strategies, systems, policies, practices, and resources, aimed at ensuring organisational effectiveness and impact.

This position will provide strategic leadership, and support to the Shared Services team and work collaboratively with other Portfolio & Program Managers and relevant stakeholders to optimise shared services delivery. The GMSS will manage and oversee effective management systems and operations across finance, human resources, strategic planning, risk and compliance, IT, facilities, OHS, communications, reporting, procurement and contract management, and administration for program areas to deliver efficient services.

This role will support commUnity+ legal, regulatory and governance requirements, and the acquittal of Company Secretary responsibilities.

Key Selection Criteria and Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification/s e.g. Management, Business Administration, Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in multidisciplinary programs at executive, general manager or senior management level overseeing the delivery of corporate or shared services, preferably in a community, for-purpose, or government organisation.
  • Extensive financial and business acumen, with a sound understanding of the accounting standards, and development and implementation of strategic, business, and operational plans, and systems of performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience in supporting programs with complex and multiple delivery and compliance requirements against legislation and regulations, government policy, industry, and internal standards; experience in the management and mitigation of compliance risks and development of compliance reporting.
  • Management and supervision of large and small teams with diverse experience and multi-locations within a high-performing, service-focussed team-oriented environment
  • Managing change within program areas to achieve efficient and effective practices and meeting organisational strategic goals.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of contemporary work health & safety, risk management practices, industrial and employee relations including awards, corporate communications, and IT Systems.
  • Highly developed analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-level negotiations with product and service providers and other relevant stakeholder groups
  • Effectively communicating with, and relating to, a wide range of organisational and community people and stakeholders, including highly developed oral and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and relationship development.
  • Independently managing time, prioritising, and planning work to meet set timelines in an environment of competing priorities.

Additionally, a CPA/CA qualification, membership with a relevant professional body, program and project management experience, systems modelling and design, would be desirable for this role.
