BEROS is a partnership between Community Living Association and Micah Projects Inc to provide service to young people 12 - 18 years of age who are in the care of the Department of Child Safety, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs who are identified as self-placing (which may include sleeping rough) in the Brisbane, lower North Coast districts (Brisbane and Moreton Bay Region Child Safety) and Sunshine Coast district (Sunshine Coast and Central Region Child Safety).
The BEROS service provide outreach, connection and relationship building with young people whilst ensuring safety; and achieving stability by meeting immediate needs such as stable accommodation and care relationships, and personal, family and community opportunities. The service also provides development work such as linking young people to educational or other developmental groups, supportive and positive peer relationships, mentoring and enhanced family and cultural relationships.
BEROS Sunshine Coast is seeking a highly skilled Senior Case Manager to provide support to young people in the care of child safety who are self-placing. We invite applications from practitioners with a Bachelor of Social Work, Human Services or similar to apply.
The position offered is based on the Sunshine Coast as a fixed term contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension. This is a full-time position (38 hours/week) with a six-month probation period.
Remuneration is at a SCHCADS Level 5 (Social and Community Services Pay Scales). The SCHCADS award can be accessed here.
The role of the Senior Case Manager is to provide case management support to young people referred to the service and coordinate the BEROS team within their allocated district.
Tasks and Responsibilities include:
Senior Case Managers are required to:
SC1 – Highly developed skills in proactive communication and relationship building with young people
SC2 - Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trauma and attachment and how this impacts the development of children and young people, especially those in the Child Protection system.
SC3 – Demonstrated ability to work across systems and build strategic relationships with external stakeholders.
SC4 - Demonstrated ability to respond to crisis and escalated behaviours displayed by young people in times of stress
SC 5 - Demonstrated ability to respond to conflict, ethical dilemmas and complex practice issues.
SC6 - Ability to reflect on work, participate effectively as a member of a team and contribute to further development of the service.
SC7 – Demonstrated ability to undertake more senior role responsibilities such as rostering, timesheets, facilitating team meetings and supervising staff.
