Common Purpose

An international not-for-profit leadership development organisation, we run programmes in over 70 cities worldwide offering participants the knowledge, skills and inspiration to cross boundaries and become more active and engaged leaders in society.

Common Purpose Student Experiences have been delivering leadership programmes for students for the past 15 years. We are an ambitious business with a rapidly expanding portfolio of leading university partners such as RMIT University, UWA, Monash University, Western Sydney University, Harvard University, Hong Kong University and National University of Singapore. We currently deliver transformational leadership programmes for top global student talent in over 35 cities across the world, working closely with our local offices. Our team is based in the UK, USA, India, Nepal, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. www.commonpurpose.org/students.

We run programs for students across Australia and beyond, with a focus on providing international experiences to students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience them - especially those from low SES backgrounds. All our programs are provided to students free of charge. We aim to help them to develop the skills to thrive in work and society once they finish their studies.

The Role

Can you develop client relationships at the highest level? Can you build dynamic networks across cities? Are you passionate about developing the next generation of leaders? And do you love to travel? If yes, then we want you to work with us at Common Purpose!

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and ambitious professional who shares our values to work with our Student Experiences team as Partnerships Manager, Australia. Based in Melbourne, you’ll be the representative for Common Purpose in Australia. You’ll manage and be accountable for our high-level relationships with our university clients across Australia and develop the partnerships with city stakeholders needed to support our delivery team to run complex, large-scale and high quality programmes for students.

As our work grows significantly across Australia you will manage our university partnerships - from Perth to Melbourne to Sydney. Working closely with the CEO (based in London) and Senior Programmes Director (based in Bangalore), you will be at the centre of the fastest growing and most exciting part of our organisation. Whether working with a senior stakeholder from a key university partner, travelling to a different city to network (on average 1 week per month) and form new relationships with leaders and organisations, working on stimulating projects with a dynamic and energetic team spread across multiple time zones, or troubleshooting client or delivery issues and coming up with innovative ways to solve them, you’ll be at the heart of our growth in Australia.

We’ll bring you to both our head office in London, and to our office in Bangalore, as part of your induction and so you have an opportunity to meet your colleagues. And with our programmes and clients across the wider Asia-Pacific region and not just in Australia, from India to Indonesia, you’ll combine regular international travel with the opportunity to work with interesting people around the world.

Your Responsibilities

  • Represent the Common Purpose brand through high-level management of our university partners in Australia, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and communication, and securing repeat business as a result
  • Build the high-level networks and partnerships in cities across the country needed to enable successful programme delivery – including senior city stakeholders who can set dynamic and relevant student challenges with legitimacy, top-brand organisations that students want to work for and unsung heroes doing inspiring work in a diverse range of communities.
  • Facilitate leadership development programmes for students across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region
  • Work closely with the wide network of Common Purpose stakeholders and alumni, and our different international entities, to maximise opportunities for growth.

About You

With a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, you might have managed partnerships for a not-for-profit, worked in account and client management for a business or have a background in international partnerships for a university. You will be looking to work for a purpose driven organisation, where your work will impact the lives of thousands of young leaders. You will be an avid traveller with a keen interest in Australia and also the wider Asia-Pacific region. And you will want to work in an innovative and fast-growing global business where you can play a direct role in shaping and leading our biggest growth area, while inspiring organisations and leaders. You will be used to operating independently, comfortable being managed remotely and willing to be a pioneer as the first Australian-based member of our global team (reporting to the Senior Programmes Director, based in Bangalore).

We would love to talk to people from any background provided you can demonstrate the relevance of your skills and experience.

First Interviews: Will take place week beginning 23 September 2019 (via Skype) - If selected for interview you will be asked to record a short video presentation in advance.

Second Interviews: Will take place on Wednesday 2 October (in person)
