The Program

The Australian Government has established the Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) to implement its education, health and scholarship aid programs in Fiji and its scholarship and education programs in Tuvalu. The Facility will also support the delivery of Australia’s emergency response efforts following natural disasters, and governance sector support when requested by the Fiji Government.

Delivery of Australia Awards program for Fiji and Tuvalu is a key component of the Facility. The program provides long-term scholarships for Fiji and Tuvalu citizens to study in Australia and the Pacific region under the Australia Awards Scholarships and the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships. Delivery of the program includes administering all stages of the scholarships cycle from promotions to mobilisation of awardees to Australia and the Pacific.

The company managing the Facility on behalf of the Australian Government, Coffey, is currently seeking applications for the key position of Team Leader, Australia Awards Fiji and Tuvalu.

The Position

The Team Leader, Australia Awards will manage a team of three and will have overall responsibility for the effective delivery of the Australia Awards program and related activities for both Fiji and Tuvalu. The Team Leader will provide strategic leadership, advice and quality monitoring and reporting and will ensure delivery of the program is done in compliance with global, regional and local Australia Awards strategies and policies. The Team Leader will develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including the Australian High Commission, Government of Fiji and Government of Tuvalu, and will regularly review team performance and continue to improve, innovate and evolve work practices.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and will demonstrate experience providing strategic leadership and program management of international development programs related to scholarships, human resource development or training programs with DFAT or other donors. Familiarity with the Australia Awards Scholarships program and policies is preferred. Demonstrated success in building strong relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, cultures and at all levels will be required, as well as experience managing and mentoring a team to deliver objectives in an environment of tight deadlines. Experience in contracting, financial management, monitoring and producing analytical reports will be required for success in this position. Experience in Fiji or the Pacific is highly desirable.
