About Us

This is a great opportunity to join a small and professional team where the work is always fascinating. The role is envisaged to increase the diversity of the team and the capacity of Code Black Psychology to provide MACNI program care plan development and care plan coordination services as well as potentially some specialist support coordination for the NDIS. Code Black Psychology is a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychology, social, allied health professionals, and legal practitioners providing services to care teams supporting persons with complex psychosocial disabilities and persistent risks of harming themselves and others.

Our approach is working collaboratively with our clients by bringing confidence, curiosity, and integrity. We work extensively in the government and private sectors in Australia and New Zealand. Through teamwork we provide complex case consultations, diagnostic reviews, care team support and coordination, behaviour support and change, bespoke training and advice on policy and framework development.

About the Role

The role will be best suited to an individual who thrives on working closely with care teams who provide services to clients/participants with complex needs. A client with complex needs is a person who would benefit from enhanced coordination of the services providing mental health care and day-to-day support. A client with complex needs may present with one or more of the following:

  • High-risk, high-harm behaviours and involvement with the criminal justice system;
  • Multiple and dual diagnoses with complex healthcare and support needs requiring additional resourcing, coordination and/or expert input to stabilise and create sustainable service provision;
  • Significant health, welfare and other community-based service needs characterised by poor engagement and limited participation with supports provided;
  • Multiple vulnerabilities such as having more than one disability, having a history of multiple hospitalisations and incarcerations; and
  • Disconnected from culture, community and identity.

Tasks and Approach

  • You will be responsible for supporting care teams to implement MACNI program care plans (under the Complex Needs Act 2009) that have been developed to create a shared understanding of the client’s multiple needs and risk, a care plan is:
    • based on a comprehensive assessment of the client’s needs;
    • provides a comprehensive assessment of a client’s wellbeing and measures for supporting functional integration into the community;
    • is tailored to addresses psychosocial wellbeing, mental health, physical health, risk management, accommodation, and service system support such as NDIS support services.
  • You will not work directly with the complex client, you will coordinate the services who provide the direct care to the client.
  • You will lead the development of a targeted support response to the client which requires shared problem-solving, decision-making, planning and independent expert input.
  • You will thrive on being organised and a great communicator, working with stakeholders, implementing services to improve clients with complex needs well-being monitoring outcomes and reporting progress;
  • You will need to provide written updates to the DFFH Complex Needs Panel who oversee the MACNI program; and
  • You may be required to undertake some specialist support coordination under the NDIS as Code Black Psychology expands our services.
  • Development will be provided to successful candidates.
