The Climate Risk Group

The Climate Risk Group is a company committed to quantifying and communicating the costs of climate change. Our mission is to influence decision makers – large and small – towards action that directs global capital away from climate change related activities and towards a zero carbon, high resilience economy.

With 40 team members across Australia, Asia and UK, the Climate Risk Group brings together XDI, with its finance and business focus, and Climate Valuation, which provides household-level insights into the costs of climate change. Together, our work leverages physical climate risk data, influence with global financial players and grassroots momentum to create a compelling case for change.

The Climate Risk Group works with clients around the world from the Finance, Government, Private and Civil Society sectors. We employ coders, scientists, project managers, analysts, and more, all with a shared desire to make a difference.

Help us shift the dial on climate change

We have an ambitious strategy to deploy climate impact data of sufficient quality and volume in time to arrest runaway climate change. We do this by providing quantitative insights into the impacts of extreme weather and climate change on physical assets - built or natural - to major decision-makers in the global economy as well as homeowners or buyers.

Our organisation has grown rapidly over the last 2 years and is ready to implement a new org design to enable the effective execution of our strategy, with a focus on getting high-value products to the right customers in the right markets with minimal internal friction. Our journey from functional silos toward cross-functional teams has been helped by working with a small Agile consultancy; we are now seeking an Agile Coach to help us implement and embrace new ways of working, coach lean and agile practices, and coordinate the work of all teams to achieve our strategic objectives, ensuring we are operating smoothly and to a consistent set of patterns and rhythms.

Key accountabilities

  • Working closely with the People and Culture Manager to implement the new organisational design over Q3 and 4
  • Staged introduction of Agile and Lean practices in Business and Product teams
  • Facilitate our 6-monthly operational planning process that fosters a sustainable, collaborative approach to helping our teams execute company goals (inspired by Flight Levels)
  • Facilitate the company rhythms and ceremonies that enable effective planning
  • Evangelise, teach and coach continuous improvement practices across the organisation
  • Work with GovOps to create a suitable dashboard and reporting cycle for overall company health, including org design progress, delivery of strategy.
  • Coach and support leadership to create focus on new org design principles
  • Work with stakeholders from across the business to understand the market(s) that TCRG’s products exist in
  • Work collaboratively with the product teams to help establish rhythms and processes to define, discover and deliver valuable solutions that solve business and customer problems.

You have:

  • Experience coaching multiple teams at varying stages of their agile journey (eg: Shu, Ha, Ri)
  • Experience working with tech Product Managers and product teams
  • A broad, flexible Agile/Lean toolkit that isn’t ‘one size fits all’, along with a non-dogmatic attitude towards Agile practices
  • Experience running team health checks to help prioritise which teams to focus on (as there are too many teams for 1 person to support all of them at the same time)
  • Experience designing and facilitating strategic planning processes, such as Big Room Planning
  • Experience working with modern product-led companies, for example, startups, scale-ups and SMEs that aren’t adopting a large-scaling Agile framework (e.g. SAFe)
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills, managing relationships with leadership, product, technology and science stakeholders
  • Extra points if you’ve worked with the Flight Levels framework, have been a Product Manager, worked with non-profits or purpose-driven for-profits (social impact), or anything to do with climate science
  • Proven problems solving skills while working in a fast working environment
