About the Role

We have a unique opportunity for a Policy Officer to work with the clean energy industry on critical and transformative issues for the renewable sector.

The Policy Officer is responsible for assisting with the development, communication, and advocacy for policies to accelerate the responsible development of large-scale renewable energy projects.

This includes policy development work related to state and federal planning/environmental requirements, community engagement and social licence issues including a range of issues to support the development of offshore wind.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking research and analysis to identify issues, planning the policy development process and drafting policies, reports and proposals for key stakeholders.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to inform policy development and achieve policy objectives for Clean Energy Council members.
  • Project delivery from policy inception to program delivery.
  • Developing, maintaining, monitoring and reporting on projects, governance, risks and other issues as required.

About You

You will have a proven track record in a similar position where you have been responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating policy either in government, a market body or within the energy sector.

You will be tertiary qualified and your background experience and intellectual approach will enable you to successfully navigate complex government policy and frameworks that support large scale renewable products.

Central to this role will be your understanding of issues affecting the development of renewable energy products, climate policies and politics as well as previous experience organising and influencing consultative committees.

You will have excellent communication skills with the demonstrated ability to prepare and present logical, succinct material as well as strong time management skills with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

You will also have strong conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to grasp complex concepts comfortably and a genuine desire to learn.
