About the opportunities…

The City of Playford currently provides a range of Social Inclusion programs for eligible people within the council area. The aims of the Social Inclusion Programs are to support older people and people with disability to live independently, meet their wellbeing goals and participate in community life. Activities are designed according to an individual’s strengths and personal choice with a focus on wellness and reablement, skill development, social connection and new experiences.

We are looking for suitably experienced sole trader Contractors to provide low to medium level of support within any or all of Council’s Social Inclusion programs for older people or people with disability in accordance with the contractors specific area of qualifications, skills and experience.

Please note: all submissions will be required to provide

  1. Evidence of First Aid Officer Training;
  2. Evidence of current relevant clearances;
  3. Evidence of relevant qualifications or experience eg;
  4. Evidence of any training relevant to the services eg;
  5. Procedures (risk assessment or equivalent) to outline controls for cash handling;
  6. Schedule of fees;
  7. Public Liability Insurance or meet eligibility requirements for Council insurance coverage. (Refer to contract document for eligibility requirements).

As a contractor, you can be an individual (sole trader) or working in your own company, partnership, or trust. You might even call yourself an independent contractor, sub-contractor or a 'subbie'. Contractors have different tax and super obligations to employees.

As a contractor, you're running your own business. You need an Australian business number (ABN), and you need to pay tax and super. You're not entitled to paid leave if you get sick or injured. You may have to pay the cost to fix anything you damage in the course of your work. You may also have to pay the costs incurred by someone else if you cause an accident on someone else's property.

Hours may include (as required by Council and dependent on experience):

  • Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm
  • Saturdays 10am-5pm
  • Thursday fortnightly 5-10pm
  • One Saturday evening per month from 5-11pm
  • Other hours may be on offer from time to time

Contractors practice will reflect the relevant legislation and standards for aged care (CHSP) and disability (NDIS) services.
