We are seeking committed and passionate Support Workers who enjoy working with participants by removing barriers, developing skills and increasing their options.
To work with NDIS Participants to develop and implement goals and plans that promote their best interest, ensure their safety and appropriate development.
The role of the Disability Support Worker is to work with participants providing them with a high-quality support and care that addresses individual needs and enhances their independence, abilities, aspirations and community participation.
Hours and Award / Salary Level
We currently have casual positions available and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience and/or interest in working with people with a disability, families, service providers, advocates and/or other stakeholders.
- Experience in delivering person-centred supports to people living in community-based settings.
- Ability to liaise, negotiate and work with participants and stakeholders from a range of organisations and different cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrates a positive approach to the rights of people with disability.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including effectiveness in written and verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- General knowledge and experience in a broad range of office functions, including proficiency in the use of current office technology.
- Strong sense of accountability and confidentiality.
What you can bring
- An appropriate qualification, which is recognised by CHOICE Support and Recreation SERVICES and is relevant to the work required to be performed.
- Previous experience in a relevant industry, service or an equivalent level of expertise and experience to undertake the range of activities required.
- Current First Aid Certificate or ability to attain.
- Current unrestricted Victorian driver’s licence.
- Current Crim Check or willing to complete one
- Working with Children Check (Employee)
