About the Centre for Public Integrity

The Centre for Public Integrity is an independent think tank dedicated to preventing corruption and restoring public trust. Led by retired judges and corruption experts, our research and policy proposals inform public debate. Our project priorities include establishing a National Integrity Commission and strengthening the regulation of money in politics.

The role

This newly created position has been established by the Board of the Centre for Public Integrity to provide daily ongoing support to the Research Director. This critical role will see routine duties of the Research Director delegated to the Research Officer.

This will include research in the following project areas:

  • Establishing a National Integrity Commission
  • Protecting the Integrity of Accountability Institutions
  • Eliminating the Undue Influence of Money in Politics
  • Holding Executive Power to Account

The aim of the Centre’s research is to inform public debate and policy reform in each of these areas. The Centre’s briefing papers are based on rigorous analysis and offer insights “that we didn’t know”, focussing public attention on “what we should do”.

The role will include:

  • Collaborating with Executive Director and Research Director on research strategy and project ideas
  • Analysis of legislation, Parliamentary sources, electoral donations data and other research sources
  • Drafting and editing briefing papers and submissions
  • Assisting with administrative tasks as required

This role is 16 hours per week on a 12 month contract. As the Centre for Public Integrity is a new and growing organisation, we expect that the role could also grow over time.

Remuneration for this role is budgeted at the pro rata rate $74,179 plus 9.5% super. At 16 hours per week this equates to $31,233 plus super. (Rate is based on the SCHADS Industry Award for a Social and Community Services employee at level 4 - pay point 1.) The successful candidate would be expected to work from the office at least one day per week.
