We are looking for an experienced Financial Counsellors to join our team in Darwin, NT

CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing social services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children, groups, schools, and agencies across the Northern Territory.

About our Program

CatholicCare NT's financial counselling program assists communities and individuals to address their immediate needs in times of financial crisis, as well as work to improve financial capabilities and resilience by fostering improved use and management of money, including pathways to safe and affordable credit.

About the Opportunity

As the Financial Counsellor you will provide direct case management and intensive support to participants by gaining an in-depth assessment of each participants' financial situation in order to understand and address their financial stress. The Financial counsellor works to empower participants to build their own personal financial capacity. You will work collaboratively within the financial counselling team providing knowledge and support as required.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant qualifications in the sector (Community Services - Financial Counselling) or equivalent with substantial experience
  • Be a member of or be eligible for membership of a relevant financial counselling association
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including a high level of written, verbal and computer skills including Word Documents, email and electronic data bases & case note writing Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
  • Sound financial literacy including awareness of financial industry, consumer financial rights and responsibilities and the ability to keep informed of industry knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders
