Caraniche Forensic Youth Service is a Victorian, state-wide provider of Youth Offending Programs to the Youth Justice sector. This role will be working with the Community across Parkville / West Metro Region and based in Parkville /Sunshine.

This is a highly specialised role, with the opportunity for both assessment and treatment. A key feature of this role is conducting sexual and violence risk assessments and facilitating criminogenic treatment programs (group and individual) to young people who are subject to community and custodial based dispositions.

Regular liaison with professionals supporting young people is a key element of the role. There will also be the opportunity to undertake individual treatment work, all whilst working within a therapeutic environment.

You will deliver treatment to a client population that presents with a range of forensic/offending histories and clinical and mental health issues. Interventions provided may be short term, episodic, long-term, individual or group based.

What you’ll ideally bring to the role

  • Relevant qualifications in Psychology
  • Registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated and relevant working experience with people with problem sexual behaviour/sexual offending.
  • Experience in clinical and/or forensic assessment, case formulation and treatment,
  • High level of interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Independence and confidence working in a caring, faced paced environment, with a flexible and agile approach
  • Current valid Driver’s Licence

This role requires an individual who is a team player, client focused, has a warm empathic and engaging style, and is wanting to provide early intervention and support for young people who have entered the justice system.

Ideally, you will have experience working with young people who have displayed problematic sexualised behaviours, and have familiarity with sexual offending risk tools (ERASOR, RSVP). You will have a strong desire to work with a youth cohort who are culturally and linguistically diverse and present with varied needs including complex trauma, behavioural issues, mental health, substance use, and low cognitive functioning.

This is a fast paced and dynamic role so organisational skills - including an ability to prioritise tasks - is essential.
