The Role
We're looking for someone who lives and breathes social media to help us reach and engage our key target audiences ranging from young people through to donors and health professionals. The role will cover the following areas:
- Support the development of a new social media strategy and lead on its implementation.
- Plan, create and schedule social media content as well as focus on community management.
- Assess and analyse content performance and use these insights to make strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Play an important role in Canteen’s wider content strategy and support other videography and photography projects.
Area 1: Social media
- Ensure that a social media content plan is developed and implemented in line with a new social media strategy and in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Day-to-day management of Canteen’s social media channels, including planning, creating and scheduling content as well as community management.
- Develop Social media plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders for various events, programs and services to drive engagement on social media.
- When required, attend events to capture and deliver live content for our organic social platforms.
- Report on social media campaign outcomes and learnings and use insights to make recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Area 2: Content strategy
- Working closely with the Brand & Communications Manager and other internal stakeholders, to support the development of Canteen’s overarching content strategy.
- Organise and run photoshoots and filming days with a focus on ensuring that social media requirements are taken into account and met.
- Work closely with wider team members to ensure that the content strategy is implemented and that content is adapted as required and broadly utilised across other channels, including on the website and in email communications.
Area 3: Working with Youth Ambassadors
- Work with these Youth ambassadors extensively in your role and support the delivery of the annual youth training program, Leading Voices.
- Interview young people and their families with sensitivity, ensuring they approve any social media content you create and briefing them to actively contribute to our social channels with activities such as Instagram takeovers
Essential Criteria
- 2+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, or other similar roles
- Demonstrated ability to independently create engaging video, image, and text-based social media content
- Strong understanding of community management across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok
- Excellent copywriting skills and attention to detail
- Photoshop or Canva skills
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in marketing to/communicating with/engaging a youth audience
- Experience creating health-related content
- Familiarity with website content management systems and SEO strategies
- Vibrant, warm, approachable and professional
- Able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Strong organisational skills and ability to show initiative
- Desire to work for Canteen and with young people
Nature of Work
- Location: Sydney based – our can travel to our Sydney, Newtown office
- Remuneration: $70,000-$80,000 + Salary Packaging + Super + Employee Benefits
- Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
