About the role

You will work in partnership with our multi-disciplinary team supporting families of children with a sensory impairment and/or individuals across our Can:Do 4Kids programs. The work is from a strengths based approach supporting families to understand their child’s diagnosis, build parent capacity and facilitate connections with external and internal supports.

This newly created role and will be based primarily at our Noarlunga site covering clients throughout the western and southern suburbs.

The role is part time (0.6 – 0.8FTE considered) with the opportunity to extend FTE as the service grows.

About you

You will be flexible and possess experience supporting families either individually or within a group setting including delivering parent education programs to attendees. You will have a strong case management capability together with an ability to assess and support clients with complex psycho-social needs, escalate referrals and identify connection options. There is an expectation that you will have been in a similar role for at least 3 years.

The role requires someone with:

  • Degree in Social Work and member of the Australian Association of Social Workers or eligibility;
  • Additional qualifications in counselling or mental health supports;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • DHS Working with Children check;
  • Sound understanding of NDIS framework.
