This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience in community services, youth services, welfare work, social work or law (studying or completed) to assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people get free support with their legal issues. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with the relevant skills and experience or willingness to develop these skills are encouraged to apply.
Kingsford Legal Centre (KLC) is a community legal centre providing free legal advice and assistance to people who live, work or study in the Randwick and Botany Bay local government areas in NSW. Our office is located at the UNSW campus in Kensington, on Gadigal and Bidjigal land. Our solicitors provide advice on things like domestic violence, credit and debt, victim’s compensation, criminal law, housing problems, employment and discrimination law (anywhere within NSW), car accidents and neighbourhood disputes.
The Aboriginal Community Access Worker supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to access legal assistance from KLC. The Aboriginal Community Access Worker also maintains and develops culturally safe strategies to make sure KLC is accessible to Aboriginal and Torries Strait Islander clients,and helps to promote external links between KLC and the local Aboriginal community. This position works directly with the community at the Centre’s office and in outreach locations, including clients’ homes and hospitals, therefore it is a requirement to have full vaccinations as required by the Centre.
The Aboriginal Community Access Worker reports to KLC’s Director and has no direct reports.
