As the peak body for the community legal sector in WA, Community Legal WA is charged with building capacity and expertise, and promoting effectiveness and efficiency, across our 26 member centres.

Our vision is a fair Western Australia, in which everybody has equal access to justice.

Through law reform campaigns, advocacy, projects, operational support and community and legal professional education, our staff contribute to a variety of human rights and social justice projects.

About the Role

CLWA is embarking on a new program of work and organisational change in the context of significant reforms to the community legal centres sector.

This new and exciting role will be a pivotal part of a small team and hold responsibility for:

  • Supporting the delivery of CLWA’s sector development, reform, quality, and capacity building programs under the direction of the Sector Development Manager and in close collaboration with CLWA members and our team.
  • Ensuring the effective coordination and delivery of all administrative and project support functions for the Sector Sustainability Project including organising consultation an events
  • Providing professional information and referral services to community members seeking legal advice.

With experience in administration, events and project work you will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a commitment to working collaborating with member CLCs and our team to support sector reform.

  • Hours: 0.6 FTE, negotiable.
  • Salary: SACS Award level 5, $78,051, pro rata, plus generous salary packing benefits (pending wage increases for the next financial year).
  • Benefits: Flexible hours and generous employment conditions.
  • Employment type: Part Time, Fixed Term to 31 March 2024, with possibility of extension.

Do You Have What We Are Looking For?

To fill this varied and exciting role, we are looking for candidates with:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including telephone etiquette.
  • Experience in coordinating and delivering a wide range of administration functions
  • At least two years experience in coordinating and delivering a range of small events
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to social justice and human rights.
  • Experience in social/community services, in providing information and referral services and a qualification in project management, administration or business are desirable.
  • A current police check and evidence of up-to-date COVID vaccination or approved exemption are requirements for this position.
