We are looking for Organisers within the below sectors:
- Commercial Construction
- Civil Construction
- Yards & Forestry
- Recruitment
You will provide a quality service to CFMEU members, that is:
- Accurate, efficient and professionally helpful;
- Referral focused, where necessary, with appropriate communication to all relevant parties; and
- Consistent with legislative and procedural requirements.
Responsibilities
- Recruit new members and build activism and leadership amongst construction workers;
- Provide representation to union members at the workplace level;
- Resolve members’ workplace issues;
- Develop, implement and evaluate organising, worksite and campaign plans;
- Develop detailed organising strategies;
- Undertake collective bargaining activities as directed;
- Achieve recruitment targets providing regular reports on membership targets achieved and recruitment activities undertaken; and
- Understand and apply strategies to increase membership activism and promotion of union renewal and growth, industrial compliance and enterprise bargaining
Key selection criteria:
- Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare written reports and take cogent notes of relevant events;
- Well developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of people including senior officers, members, employers and government agencies;
- Well developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads and meet required timeframes;
- Experience in the use of information and communication technologies;
- Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service to CFMEU members, officers and related parties;
- Ability to work flexible arrangements as directed;
- Able to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practice.
- Must hold a WA C Class Drivers licence and be able to drive;
- Must be able to be entitled to hold a State and Federal Right of Entry Permit;
- Must be able to use computer equipment; and
- Preparedness to undertake on or off-the-job training relevant to the roles and responsibilities of an Organiser.
