The organisation

Community Northern Beaches (CNB) is a small local community-based organisation supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people. We provide accessible services to people experiencing domestic and family violence, homelessness and refugee settlement challenges and early intervention programs for families, youth and children.

The role

  • Assist using a triage model that focuses on immediate safety
  • Hold a balanced and boundaries approach to providing support (e.g. managing client expectations)
  • Maintain very high standards of care using trauma-informed and social justice-informed principles as well as being person-centred and strength-based in approach
  • Provide referrals and advocacy to other relevant support services to address holistic well-being beyond the organisation’s care (e.g. case management services, Women's Shelters, housing providers, legal assistance, Centrelink, Link2Home, psychological support)
  • Provide access to material aid at CNB
  • Contribute to the organisation’s knowledge base by staying informed about sector information (e.g. current laws relating to gender-based violence), resources and other support services
  • Attend interagency meetings, workshops and skill development/refresher training as required
  • Data entry in CRM and DEX, daily record keeping, report on outcomes of interventions
  • Implement impact measurement for the DFV support service
  • Other duties as required (e.g. from time to time, provide support in CNB’s other community support services).

Details

  • 4 days per week
  • SCHADS Level 4
  • The work location is in Manly
  • Work days & hours can be negotiated by mutual agreement
  • Immediate start ideal
  • Fixed-term contract until June 30, 2025
  • 6-month probation 

What will you bring

  • A degree in social work (& or a related field) with relevant experience OR
  • Diploma in Community Services (or related) with 2 or more years of experience working with those who experience Domestic and Family Violence
  • Competency using CRM systems
  • Assertiveness
  • Trauma-informed and person-centred approach
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
