Canterbury Earlwood Caring Association is looking for an experienced Business Development and Marketing Manager who is passionate about contributing and building communities and keen to help build the organisations capacity to meet diverse community needs.

Canterbury Earlwood Caring Association (CECAL) is a not for profit organisation that has operated the Canterbury Earlwood Caring Community Centre in the heart of Earlwood for over 45 years. CECAL runs numerous programs for families, children adults and older people.

This is a new position that has been created for 18 to 20 hrs per week for an initial contract of 9 months. CECAL's management is keen to extend the position if sufficient success is achieved. Should the position be extended beyond 9 months the position description will be reviewed and may be modified and/or readvertised.

The successful candidate will report to the General Manager / CEO of Canterbury Earlwood Caring Community Centre and be responsible to the CECAL Board of Directors. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to develop and oversee a team of volunteers, students and as needed contractors, to support the Business and Marketing programs.

SCHADS Award Grade 7, Above award conditions and salary packaging available.

Selection Critetria

Qualifications:

  1. Tertiary qualification in business development, communications and/or marketing or extensive related employment experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Demonstrated experience in growing a business and managing marketing programs
  2. Demonstrated excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work across numerous projects simultaneously, successfully prioritise workflow and meet deadlines.
  3. Confidence in exploring, assessing and establishing new business and media opportunities
  4. Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Knowledge of fundraising, sponsorship and the not-for profit sector, particularly the differing communications needs of diverse audiences.
  6. Knowledge and experience of developing, designing and writing copy for a range of communications channels to engage communities and funders. Including website, publications, newsletters, direct marketing material, social media and online materials.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate and effectively engage, motivate and build networks with a broad range of people including supporters, donors, internal and external stakeholders and the general public and build networks with people who may be interested in supporting our service and those with a concern for the local community and social justice.
  8. Experience in liaison with business and media sectors and existing networks within the business and media industries.
  9. Self-motivated and the ability to work independently and with initiative.
  10. High level written and verbal communication skills, including writing, editing and proofing a broad range of communications and ability to develop and give high quality presentations.
  11. Demonstrated interest in social justice and the social services sector and a commitment to the philosophy and values of CECAL.
  12. Advanced knowledge of MS Office, knowledge of publisher or other design software, experience in using database/contacts record management.

Desirable:

  1. Knowledge of Social Marketing principals and strategies.
  2. Experience managing staff, volunteer or students.
  3. Event management experience.
  4. Knowledge of the Canterbury Bankstown and Inner West LGAs.
  5. Drivers licence and ability to use own car for meetings as required.
