The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) has a number of opportunities for experienced Trainers to work casually in their Education and Training team.

About the role

The key activities of the position are to:

  • Deliver quality accredited and non-accredited training in face to face, online and blended mode.
  • Assess new accredited and non-accredited programs.
  • Monitor student progress, facilitating student engagement and ensuring quality training delivery.
  • Train and assess students enrolled in the Diploma of Community Services CHC52015.
  • Provide accredited and non-accredited training in person-centred Active Support.
  • Develop, deliver and assess materials for current and future courses.
  • Research, write and validate assessment tools and training resources.
  • Create and upload learning materials into the learning management system, monitoring student progress, facilitating student engagement and ensuring quality training delivery.
  • Ensure that contractual and compliance requirements for the delivery of programs are met in accordance with Australian Qualification Training Framework.

About you

The key qualifications, experience and attributes required to effectively operate in the role are:

  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or higher.
  • Experience working with people in disability / aged care or related sectors.
  • Able to teach Diploma of Community Services CHC52015.
  • Experience in utilising, and capacity to provide training in, the principles of active support.
  • Highly developed person-centred listening skills and the ability to respond flexibly and effectively to the needs of students.
  • Availability to work across different time zones and to travel, if required.
  • Experience in using a Learning Management system and the ability to create experiences within it.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative and perseverance.

About CDS

The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) is a not for profit research and education organisation. Their vision and mission is to create and disseminate knowledge that would improve the lives of people with disabilities. CDS achieve this through designing and developing research, teaching and clinical practice to inform disability policy and practice.

The new RTO will involve, initially, students from the health care sector and support staff working in community services both locally and internationally. Non accredited training is with CDS customised workshops.

All training will be based on the principles of cultural safety, person-centredness and universal design of curriculum.  The successful applicant will need a preparedness to embrace and apply these three core principles to their training and need to have experience in inclusive training methodology. 

The position will be worked flexibly between your home and the RTO premises.
