The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) has a rewarding opportunity for a full time Research Assistant to provide technical and operational support to the Chief Investigator and research team on the development and implementation of research projects.

About the role

The key activities of the position are to:

  • Undertake general searches and/or literature reviews that facilitate the research projects at CDS. This may include policy and/or peer-reviewed literature.
  • Collect data for the various projects at CDS, including via interviews and focus groups as well as other qualitative/quantitative methods.
  • Assist in writing grants for future research projects undertaken by CDS.
  • Assist with preparation, review and maintenance of study documentation, including ethical and other governance and regulatory documentation, study protocols, intervention and training manuals.
  • Communicate with research partners as necessary, including service providers and other university teams.
  • Provide administrative support relevant to the various research projects.

About you

The key qualifications, experience and attributes required to effectively operate in the role are:

  • A Masters qualification in health studies, disability or related discipline (e.g. education, social work, psychology, career development) is essential.
  • Minimum two years general research support experience.
  • Ability to network within the research communities both at state, national and international levels.
  • Proven understanding of research ethics.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative and perseverance.
