About the role

You will be a part of the CCQ’s Cancer Counselling Service, delivering telehealth psychosocial interventions to people affected by cancer and their families.

This role also contributes to the review of Cancer Council resources and the delivery of workshops and presentations on the psychosocial impact of cancer, including but is not limited to stress management and relaxation.

This role is 22.5 hours working across three days based in Cancer Council Queensland’s Brisbane office.

About you

To be successful in this role you should possess:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or greater than 5 years experience in oncology.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in the delivery of telephone and/or and face to face patient counselling interventions.
  • Understanding of the psychological impact of cancer on individuals and families and knowledge of cancer treatment decisions and side effects.
  • Professional and motivated, self-driven, and reliable.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary team on collaborative research projects with both internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, patients and their families.

Desirable Skills

  • Research experience in the context of behavioural science, psycho-oncology or other research projects.
