About the role

Are you looking to make a real impact? This newly created role will join our iconic organisation and will help us embark on the next phase of our Health, Safety and Well-being (HS&W) journey. At CCQ, the fundamental expectation is that ‘safety’ to be an equal priority with service provision and delivering outcomes. The primary focus of the role is to maintain and improve:

  • Physical and psychological HS&W for workers and others.
  • Safety and well-being for Service Users (clients, residential guests etc.).
  • Safety of Facilities (buildings, plant and vehicles).
  • The reduction of cancer risks at CCQ Workplaces and Events.

As a member of the People (Employment) Team you will be responsible for HS&W support for around 200 employees and a broader cohort of 1100 regular volunteers, and thousands of event volunteers. While CCQ has ten active sites across Queensland, the role is predominantly; Brisbane based.

The role is Permanent Part-Time at 30 hours per week.

About you

To be successful in this role, it is most likely you will:

  • Hold tertiary qualifications (degree) in a relevant discipline, relevant vocational qualifications and certifications, three years plus experience, or a combination of these.

Be able to demonstrate experience with:

  • Maintaining and improving physical and psychosocial HS&W for workers and others, including volunteers, service users, event participants and residential guests.
  • Behavioural safety, promoting and improving HS&W engagement and culture, and
  • Maintaining and enhancing systems, reporting, risk management, compliance and due diligence.
  • Genuinely care about people and can listen and understand varied stakeholders’ perspectives while finding fit for purpose solutions.
  • Be able to demonstrate an ability to interpret and practically apply the broad range of work, health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice, including workers compensation and return to work, Fair Work, Human Rights, Child Safety, etc.

Fulfil the inherent requirements of the role by:

  • Adopting a continuous learning mindset and a willingness to pragmatically apply new technology and ideas.
  • Observing work and activities as well as attending CCQ’s facilities and workplaces, as required. This includes the ability to safely and confidently access construction sites, plant rooms, be a first aid officer, fire warden, etc.

Your Leadership Contribution

CCQ has a Leadership Capability Framework that outlines leaders’ necessary capabilities for the four different leadership levels. The levels are Executive (CEO and GMs), Senior Managers, Managers, and Frontline Managers (Team Leaders and Senior Coordinators).

You will be expected to demonstrate leadership capabilities under three core groups: Vision and Strategy, Driving Outcomes, as well as Attributes and Behaviours.
