About the role

This role sits within the Marketing and Communications team and is responsible for developing engaging, quality content for publication across print and digital channels. This new and varied role will involve working with a range of stakeholders to develop content for the CCQ website, newsletters, media releases, social media and Marketing and PR campaigns. As well, the role will involve writing video scripts and assisting with multimedia production. The successful candidate will have a passion for storytelling and an ability to create compelling content in line with CCQ’s strategy.

This role is a Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week) role.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Collaborate with Revenue and Engagement team, including Marketing and Communication teams, Business Development, Corporate Partnership, Philanthropy and Campaigns and Events Service Delivery teams and Research, to develop content as required for campaigns and events that promote program-specific objectives and the strategic priorities of the organisation.
  • Plan, write, edit and produce engaging content including but not limited to brand key messages, impact stories, e-news editions, website content, social media content, scripting brand short videos and marketing collateral.
  • Identify and source storytelling opportunities to communicate what CCQ does in order to build awareness and impact and deliver on the full-year content calendar.
  • Publish website content using CCQ’s website Content Management System.
  • Provide copywriting and communications assistance on projects for the Manager Communications as required.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to write media releases and execute media opportunities to grow awareness of CCQ’s products and services.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of media events.
  • Assist in developing key messaging for media activity.
  • Assist in collaborating with other Cancer Councils to develop and implement media campaigns.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of content-led campaigns to the Manager Communications.
  • Assist in other Marketing team initiatives that require strong written communication skills.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Essential Skills:

  • Tertiary qualification and 3+ years’ experience in communications and/or journalism.
  • Highly developed skills in writing, reviewing and editing content for a range of audiences, with great attention to detail.
  • Highly developed time management skills in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience developing and managing detailed content calendars.
  • Demonstrated experience working in digital communications, including website Content Management Systems. Computer literacy with MS Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated, with a high level of initiative and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a cohesive team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience effectively communicating with all levels throughout the organisation including peers, volunteers and executive management.
  • Ability to work with changing priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment ensuring quality output.
  • Understanding of and exposure to issues relating to media and public affairs

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with photography.
