About the role

An opportunity for a talented and dedicated Assistant Accountant to work closely with the Financial Accountant and key stakeholders across the business. In this role you will be working closely with accounts payable and receivable teams, will be the go-to person from a processing point of view, assisting the financial accountant with end of month tasks and assist with annual audit as requested by the financial accountant and the senior managers of the finance team.

The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for accounting procedures for accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank account reconciliations, fixed assets maintenance, general finance support, system maintenance, assistance with end of month and yearend tasks and reports for Cancer Council Queensland (CCQ).

This a Fixed-term full-time contract for 12 month working 37.5 hours per week.

About you

What will see you succeed in this role:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience as an Assistant Accountant focusing on month end, yearend, fixed assets, and systems maintenance.
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting package is desirable.
  • Experience with purchase order systems
  • Demonstrated high level skills using Microsoft Office Suite, mainly excel (intermediate to advance level)
  • Understanding and preparation of monthly GST returns
  • Fixed assets maintenance, processing of monthly additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes and procedures.
  • Great problem-solving skills.
  • Strong experience with communication and working with internal and external stakeholders and building relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to follow procedure.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a team environment.
