The Women’s Housing Company (WHC) has been providing housing to single women since 1982. They are a tier 2 Not-for-profit community housing provider with exciting plans for growth and partnerships with other providers.

The Housing Manager role requires a demonstrated background in tenancy management and abilities in creative problem solving and in managing a demanding workload. A commitment to the principles of equity of access, cultural diversity, client service and accountability is a must have for this role. This role will report into the Team Leader, Housing Services and should have an in- depth understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of social housing tenants.

Primary Purpose and Responsibilities:

Housing Managers are responsible for the management of an allocated portfolio of tenancies; this includes fulfilling landlord responsibilities, as well as providing appropriate support to tenants to assist in the achievement of successful and sustainable tenancies. In addition, Housing Managers are responsible for working in partnership with a number of internal and external roles to achieve high level service provision; these include but are not limited to Access and Allocations, Repairs and Maintenance and Finance Teams as well Real Estate Agents, Support Providing Agencies and other tenant support networks.

Essential Criteria:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Demonstrated experience in tenancy management
  • Experience with the development and application of best practice guidelines and skills for service delivery in housing management
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework for social housing
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the needs of social housing applicants and tenants
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed organisation and time management skills
  • Capability and confidence to work with minimal supervision, in an office setting and ‘in the field’, to prioritise a demanding workload and to show initiative
  • Confidence and proficiency with Microsoft Office and technology relevant to housing services
  • Commitment to the principles of equity of access, cultural diversity, client service and accountability
  • A current and full NSW driving licence (i.e. not probationary)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the issues faced by women requiring housing assistance
  • Qualification in a relevant field
