Beyond Empathy (BE) collaborates with communities across Australia to shift perceptions and generate positive social change through the process of creating and sharing art. Over the past 17 years BE has developed a unique way of working, influenced by the First Nations communities we have partnered with. We are a team of artists, mentors, community workers, local practitioners and leaders who form creative relationships with communities and individuals in need. While some of our projects take place over a long period of time, and others are for a specific purpose or timeframe, they are always driven by the needs and aspirations of those who participate. Everyone is welcome to contribute and each person involved is treated as an equal.

about the role

Beyond Empathy needs a Development & Philanthropy professional with an excellent record in donor stewardship and major philanthropic gifts, as well as a great head for strategy. This person needs to have a passion for giving creative opportunities and a voice to young people, as well as for making positive community change. They must be able to thrive in an environment where they are given considerable freedom and independence, while also being able to work closely with our innovative and fun team. Importantly this person must be resilient and prepared for an environment of considerable challenge and change, working with young people and working in a team to develop new avenues to support the organisation. The role is full time, five days per week, and will require some work out of hours and off-site throughout the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions based around the Beyond Empathy schedule.
